Halima Aden – The Islamic Veil Debuts On Catwalks

The Fashion shows that have been staged in recent weeks will remain in the history and will be remembered forever. In this political / social movement that is  very complicated and increasingly hostile toward minorities in fact, the world of fashion, always considered frivolous, but has played an incredible role and inspiring. The unexpected evidence that the fashion world has given these days has been very influential, showing that on the catwalk all are equal and there are no distinctions of gender and religion. With beautiful Halima the Islamic veil debut on the catwalks of Milan Fashion Week in 2017 and enchants all. A wearing hijab in one of the most important social events in the world was the Somali-American model parading for the first time in Europe, on the catwalk of Alberta Ferretti.
Born in a refugee camp in Kenya, naturalized American, the nineteen year old Halima lives in the US since she was 6 years old, degree in History at Saint Cloud State University in Minnesota and strict Muslim regularly brings the hijab.
Last year she participated at Miss Minnesota in burkinis and last week she made her debut on the catwalk with her hijab for Yeezy collection Season 5 Kanye West.

“I want to convey a positive message that has as its theme the beauty and diversity. I want to show the young Muslim women that there is also space for them – tells the model before the fashion show – I chose love, because nations are not supportive, are destined to collapse. Just few days ago, on February 15, the model is joined the agency IMG Model of New York, which also represents, among others, top Gigi and Bella Hadid, Elsa Hosk and Sasha Luss, we saw them on Alberta Ferretti catwalk.

Halima continues “I am honored and can not wait to get out on the catwalk for her. The look he chose for me makes me feel strong – continues Halima – It is the most authentic version of myself and what I represent. I am very grateful for this incredible opportunity. ”
